Mystery Object

Ok, anyone want to try to identify this object?  It's parked beside the horse stalls at La Florentine.  We were absolutely mystified as to its purpose, so we asked what it does.  It's pretty clever!

It has four tiers, a tow hitch and a PTO connector at the front.

And this weird bit at the front right.

I climbed up a little to take the rear view photo.

Rear view
It has spiky things along each tier.

First correct guess gets.... ehhhh.... a glass of wine?  To be consumed in the courtyard of La Belle Cour!  The winner must travel to claim their prize!

Bon Chance!

  1. Its some kind of crop Harvester to be pulled by a tractor and worked by the pto.

  2. Close, Frances, but not precise enough.... check my FB page, someone got the right answer there!

  3. Looks like a vegetable picker of some sorts - was going to say potatoe - but dont think they like their spuds that much in S of Fr

  4. It's a bale stacker... as guessed by Dee on Facebook! It picks up the bales with the "weird bit" at the front right as it's driven around the field, they get shunted all the way around to the top and when it's full it's driven back to the barn. Then the bales are shunted down the bit at the back right, which can be adjusted in height so the bales are dropped onto whatever level you're stacking at.
Seems a lot more civilised than our neighbour MS and five hefty lads flinging bales around a barn!
